December is in full swing and that means tons of events going on around Charlotte for the kiddos. Best part...they are all FREE! Check out some of these events this weekend if you get a chance. We will update this list throughout the month so that you will always have something free (or budget friendly) to do, especially during those long days with no school! **We will include events for parents too that will be kid- but not wine-free! And sorry you will probably have to pay for your booze.
Ice Skating Rink at The Green (downtown S. College St.)
The only outdoor skating rink in town. If you do actually skate it is not free but it is also a lot of fun to just go and watch. The whole area is festive and across the street kids will love to see the giant ornament in front of the Duke Energy building. Head down a couple of blocks to Trade and Tryon and see the mini forest lit up in Christmas lights!
*There is a parking garage at The Green (entrance located off S. Tryon) that charges $5 to park. If you are coming down S. College toward The Green there is a lot right before it that we always park in. It is free and I can't guarantee anything but we have never been towed/ticketed and we have parked there for numerous events on the weekends.
The Green Gingerbread House at The Ritz (downtown)

This gingerbread house is 10' x 14' feet in size and completely environmentally friendly!

My last suggestion is to just get in the car and go enjoy some Christmas lights around the city. If you haven't been in previous years you MUST check out the display at 7323 Sherwood Forest Dr.
These neighbors know how to go all out! Plan to bring some snacks and drinks for your little ones because there can be a long line of cars circling the cul-de-sac!
ENJOY!
