Happy Half-Birthday Momsie...

My little baby is getting so big.  She (yes, this blog is a female because I need some balance in this house!) has surprised me in numerous ways, whether it be bringing me a new friend or reminding me that I am good at things other than butt-wiping.  It hasn't even been a year yet and Momsie has grown to have many friends, "likers", and followers.  I still get excited when I check the stats page and see how many people are checking out her pages.  This little blog has made me think about how I do things in my own house and taught me how some other people do it in theirs.  Some days I wish there were more hours in the day, or perhaps less hours filled with tantrums, so I could devote the real time and energy I want to to this little endeavor but thanks none the less for reading on and being so encouraging.  I can't wait for the next 6 months and where things will go.  December will be the big bash but I had to celebrate just a little today.

Birthdays Half-birthdays are a great time for reflection.  Ironically my birthday will be later this month and there is plenty on which I could reflect.  Not only big picture stuff like, was I a more patient mother?  Did I learn something new?  Did I cut out at least one city of Real Housewives from my DVR line-up?  But, also the little things like did I read at least one book, get a pedicure at least twice this year, and allow myself a weekly Banana Pudding Milkshake from Chick-fil-a?

When I set out to create this blog it was half-planned and half-impulsive.  It was an idea that rolled around in my mind for awhile and I spent hours just obsessing about what the name should be.  I knew I didn't want the "typical" mommy blog but thats about as far as my vision went.  So, with that clear direction in mind I debuted Momsie.  During a month in which it just happens to be Christmas and both of my sons birthdays!  Somewhere in the midst of all of that I learned how to tweak things technically and slowly found a posting format that worked for me.  When I named Momsie I immediately thought of the little tag line: Hip Tips for a One-of-a-Kind Kid.  That really is what I want(ed) to bring to the table but I will be the first to admit that some days don't really fit with that theme.  I like writing about different subjects such as food, exercise, things to do, clothing, interior design, and Oprah even though those subjects won't always make your kid "hip."  I am sure that I have lost some readers because they decided this was not the info they signed up for but thats ok.  The way I rationalize it all is that if it entertains you as mothers then it makes you smile more or feel more sane and that has to rub off on your kids.  And happy, sane kids are more "hip" than foul, crazy ones.  Can I get an amen sistas?!

The truth is I am a mother too so my thoughts, much like my days, are not always going to go where I intended.  I still want to bring you information that will help you make creative memories for your child and if at all possible at no cost, right here in Charlotte.  I want to share any tid-bit of knowledge I glean out of life so that you can feel more normal, less lonely, and like you are doing the best job you can.  I also share because I need witnesses to let me know when I have actually, once and for all gone off the deep end.

I know my path has zig-zagged a little bit so please tell me your thoughts.  Any critiques (ASIDE from grammar and punctuation)?  Any requests?  Any thoughts at all...I am all ears.
Thank you again and again for supporting my little blog baby, it means the world.
